Maid in P3.5-million theft arrested

MANILA, Philippines - A maid accused of stealing P3.5 million worth of cash and jewelry by a 52-year-old housewife in Parañaque City last week was arrested in San Pedro Laguna shortly after midnight yesterday.

Superintendent Kirby Kraft, city police chief, said the arrest of Ester Concepcion, 36, was made by virtue of a warrant issued by a Las Piñas City court.

Kraft said Concepcion was arrested at 12:30 a.m. inside a house on Xenia street, Camella Subdivision, Barangay Cuyab.

The suspect’s arrest stemmed from the complaint of Delia Sato, 52, of BF Homes, Parañaque.

He said Concepcion admitted that she took P450,000 cash from her employer but she denied stealing jewelry worth P2 million.

Laguna police director Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz said they recovered from the suspect P150,000 cash and other stolen items. – Aie Balagtas See, Ed Amoroso
