Iranian envoy loses cash, valuables in 'break-in'

- Aie Balagtas See -

MANILA, Philippines - Iranian Ambassador Ali Asghar Mohammadi lost cash and jewelry in an alleged break-in at his official residence in the exclusive Forbes Park village in Makati Saturday morning.

Mohammadi was reportedly looking for his cellular phone at about 11:30 a.m. when he discovered that the gadget, his branded wristwatches, eyeglasses, and money were missing from his room.

The incident was reported to the police at 3 p.m. by the village security guard, according to Superintendent Jaime Santos, officer-in-charge of the Makati police.

“What’s suspicious here is that the ambassador’s wallet was not missing,” Santos told The STAR over the phone.

Santos said the police will subject all of Mohammadi’s household members to a polygraph test. They will also check the guards on duty at the time of the alleged burglary because police officers, according to him, are not allowed to patrol in the village.
