MANILA, Philippines - A jobless man was shot dead early yesterday in Makati City in what police said was the result of an old grudge with members of a rival street gang.
Acting Makati police chief Superintendent Jaime Santos said Ruel de Guzman, 29, of Pasong Tamo street in Barangay San Antonio, was shot at around 4:30 a.m. along Pasong Tirad street in Barangay Tejeros.
“The motive of the killing is an old grudge between two rival gangs. The victim is a member of one of the gangs,” Santos said.
Tricycle drivers Paulo Fang, 24, and John John Opimo, 20, were arrested for De Guzman’s killing at around 6 a.m. yesterday along Yague street in Barangay Tejeros. Police said the gun used in killing De Guzman was not recovered.
