Man stabs brother for shouting at wife

MANILA, Philippines - A jobless man reportedly stabbed his own brother for shouting at his wife in Malabon City Thursday night.

Senior Police Officer 1 Redentor Mantala said village watchmen arrested Danilo Avila, 49, a resident of Sitio 6 in Barangay Catmon and turned him over to the police for allegedly stabbing his older brother, Narciso Avila, 59, at around 10 p.m.

Mantala said Narciso, who was drunk, went to Danilo’s house looking for his younger brother but was met by Danilo’s wife. The irate Narciso shouted at the woman as he confronted her about an old family misunderstanding.

Danilo, who was listening to his brother’s tirade, went out of their house to defend his wife.

But during the two brothers’ heated altercation, Danilo stabbed Narciso with a knife thrice. He tried to flee but was caught by the patrolling village watchmen.

Narciso was brought to the President Diosdado Macapagal Memorial Medical Center for treatment of his stab wounds.
