Business dispute eyed in Valenzuela slay
Manila, Philippines - A business dispute may be the reason for an attack on a woman in Valenzuela City Wednesday, in which four others were wounded, police said yesterday.
Car dealer Christine Gamboa, 34, had an ongoing “legal battle” with one of the partners in the business. Senior Police Officer 4 Jesus Sagisi said while they are focusing their probe on the dispute, they are “not discounting other possible motives.”
Two motorcycle-riding gunmen ambushed the victim, who was riding in a black Subaru Forester along Maysan Road at around 9:40 a.m. after she attended a court hearing. She died in the hospital an hour later due to four bullet wounds in the head and body.
The car’s driver and Gamboa’s cousin, Mark Gamboa, 34; her lawyer, Emerson Barrientos, 67; and Reynante Carubio, 34, were also wounded. Sagisi said a stray bullet hit bystander Tonton Mansera, 23, in the head. He was confined at the Valenzuela General Hospital.
