Woman dead, 4 hurt in Valenzuela ambush

MANILA, Philippines - Two motorcycle-riding gunmen shot dead a woman and wounded four others in an ambush in Valenzuela City yesterday.

Ma. Christina Gamboa, 34, of Barangay Maysan, died from on the spot multiple gunshot wounds.

Wounded were Gamboa’s husband, Mark, and their two companions Emerson Barrientos and Reynante Barubio. A bystander identified as Tonton Manzare, 27, was hit by stray bullets and is now confined at the Valenzuela City General Hospital.

Senior Police Officer 4 Jesus Sagisi of the Valenzuela City police said their initial investigation showed that the Gamboa couple was riding their black Subaru Forester (NOE-578) with Barrientos and Barubio when the suspects opened fire at them along Maysan Road.

The couple was on their way home after attending a hearing at the Valenzuela City court, reports said. Police have yet to establish the motive behind the ambush.
