Search on for man who shot PNP official in Pasig bar
MANILA, Philippines - Police investigators are searching for a man who allegedly shot a Philippine National Police (PNP) official at a bar in Pasig City Friday, Eastern Police District director Chief Superintendent Miguel Laurel said yesterday.
Senior Superintendent Ted Quiaino, chief of staff of the PNP’s finance department, entered the bar along Henry Javier street in Barangay Oranbo at the same time as a group of “youngsters,” Laurel said.
“My men are in the field interviewing witnesses to identify the group of youngsters who entered the bar as one of them was the gunman of the police colonel,” he said in an interview.
Laurel said they are still in the process of establishing the motive behind the shooting of Quiaino, who lives in Fort Bonifacio.
Quiaino was drinking with a woman at the bar when the “trigger-happy” youngster shot him at point-blank range, Laurel said. Quiaino was hit in the temple, the bullet exiting just under his left eye. Doctors at the Medical City declared him out of danger.
The EPD director said investigators have yet to interview Quiaino as his doctors have not yet permitted him to talk.
“His statement would greatly help us in our effort to solve the case,” said Laurel, adding that crime scene investigators have yet to submit their report.
