2 kill maid in bungled burglary
MANILA, Philippines - A construction worker and his neighbor were arrested in Bulacan Sunday afternoon, a day after killing a housemaid during a bungled burglary attempt in Navotas City Saturday.
Superintendent Rio Gatacilo, Navotas police deputy chief, said Noel Pineda, 23, and Aljin Alejandro, 22, admitted to killing Rhodora Ordonez, 46, house helper of the Carcedo family in Barangay Tangos.
Police Officer 2 Allan Bangayan said witnesses saw Pineda, one of the construction workers in the ongoing renovation of the Carcedos’ three-story house, fleeing with Alejandro a few minutes before Ordonez’s body was discovered.
“The suspects claimed they only wanted to rob the house but Ordonez was awakened by their noise while they were trying to open a room on the second floor. One of them hit the housemaid on the head with a hammer several times to silence her,” Bangayan told The STAR.
Bangayan said the suspects failed to take anything when they escaped.
