MANILA, Philippines - The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is open to making permanent the truck ban implemented during the four-day Asian Development Bank (ADB) meeting last week.
Noemi Recio, MMDA officer-in-charge of traffic and transport management office, said this has to be studied carefully because plenty of business will be affected.
According to Recio, the modified daytime truck ban during the ADB’s 45th annual meeting resulted in unusually light traffic flow throughout the affected roads.
Recio said that during the inspection of the affected routes last Friday, she noticed a significant difference in traffic along the Osmeña Highway, which is normally congested before noon.
The MMDA announced last week the daytime truck ban from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m. to make it easier for the over 4,000 delegates to be transported to and from the conference.
