1 killed in QC anti-crime drive
MANILA, Philippines - A man was killed after he tried shooting at policemen who were conducting an anti-crime drive in Novaliches, Quezon City Friday night.
Policemen, led by Chief Inspector Leo Escat, were conducting an anti-drug operation in Barangay Gulod when three men blocked the path of Police Officer 2 Reynaldo del Mundo at around 11 p.m. Friday.
Allan Lucas, 39, pulled out a handgun and shot at Del Mundo, who retaliated and hit Lucas in the chest. Upon seeing their companion shot, the two other men ran away. One of them, Anton dela Cruz, was caught after a brief chase and will be charged with illegal possession of a deadly weapon after lawmen found a fan knife on his person.
A .22 caliber homemade revolver was seized from Lucas, who was declared dead on arrival at the Novaliches General Hospital.
