MANILA, Philippines - A man driving a motorcycle was killed and his companion wounded when they were shot, reportedly by a motorcyclist who had bumped them minutes earlier, along McArthur Highway in Valenzuela City at past midnight yesterday.
Investigators believe the shooting was prompted by the victims reporting the collision to the police shortly after the incident.
Ronald Marinas, 26, died on the spot while Albert Marquez, 26, was hit in the shoulder. Inspector Maria Leonora Soriano, Northern Police District Scene of the Crime Operatives team leader, said the shooting happened at around 12:50 a.m.
The victims were cruising along Dama de Noche street in Marulas when they were hit by a man – later identified as Daniel Lusung – driving a motorcycle with plate number 1671-OR. They reported the incident to the Valenzuela Police Community Precinct 3.
The motorcycle was found to be registered to Lusung’s brother, Danilo. It was not clear which of the brothers shot Marinas and Marquez.
Police said they have launched a manhunt for the Lusung brothers.
