Erap eyes Isko as running mate

MANILA, Philippines - Former President Joseph Estrada said yesterday he may get his fellow movie actor, Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno, as a running mate should he finally decide to run for Manila mayor.

In an interview with ANC, Estrada said Moreno did a good job even during the time of former Manila mayor Lito Atienza.

Estrada said being the capital city of the country, Manila should serve as the country’s show window.     

“There is a need for an urban renewal in Manila. It has been overtaken by other cities in the country. (Mayor Alfredo) Lim has long stayed in office... He has no more vision to develop Manila. It is the capital city of our country, but it was overtaken by Makati,” Estrada said.

Estrada said he values Manila very much since he was born there and his first blockbuster, “Asiong Salonga,” is a based on a true story of a man from Tondo.
