MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Justice (DOJ) has concluded its reinvestigation into the killing of Noel Orate and affirmed the finding of the fiscal that homicide charges should be filed against the suspect.
The 10-page resolution signed by Assistant State Prosecutor Gino Paolo Santiago overruled the recommendation made by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to charge Allan Robes with murder.
Orate, ex-lover of former Quezon City representative Nanette Castelo-Daza, was allegedly shot dead by Robes inside Daza’s house last Feb. 10. The reinvestigation was sought by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 218 based on the motion filed by the heirs of the victim.
