Australia's most wanted man nabbed in Muntinlupa
MANILA, Philippines - Australia’s alleged most wanted man was arrested at his house in Ayala Alabang Village, in Muntinlupa City yesterday.
The arrest of Brett Ronald Maston, 45, came as Quentin Bryce, governor-general of the Commonwealth of Australia, is in Manila for a visit.
Chief Inspector Giovanni Martinez, head of the city police’s intelligence unit, said Maston is wanted in Australia for a string of bank robberies.
“He’s been hiding in the country for five years now. He told us that he has connections with some generals of the Armed Forces of the Philippines,” Martinez told The STAR.
Agents of the Bureau of Immigration arrested Maston in coordination with the Muntinlupa police and members of the Special Weapons and Tactics team of the Southern Police District.
The Australian fugitive has been under surveillance by the authorities prior to his arrest.
