Lim sacks MPD station commander

- Sandy Araneta -

MANILA, Philippines - Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim yesterday relieved from his post the station commander of Manila Police District (MPD) Station 5 after two of his policemen were accused of extorting money from two Koreans.

MPD Station 5 commander Superintendent Jemar Modequillo will be replaced by Senior Superintendent Mariano Tumalad, formerly of MPD Station 1. Senior Superintendent Rolando Navarete will heading MPD Station 1.

Lim presented Police Officer 2 Reynaldo Olivo, 37; and PO1 Vincent Paul Medina, 26, during a press conference yesterday. Olivo and Medina are facing robbery-extortion charges before the Manila prosecutor’s office for allegedly taking the money of Lee Jun Hee and Baek Sung Kyun after forcing them into their patrol car.
