1 dead, 2 hurt in Malabon gang clash
MANILA, Philippines - A man was killed while two other persons, including an 11-month-old boy, were wounded when two neighborhood gangs clashed in Malabon City Sunday night.
Rene Sabe, 30, a resident of Paradise Village in Barangay Tonsuya was shot twice in the head and twice in the chest. He died on the spot.
Sabe’s companion, Alfredo Prieto, 31, suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the body and was brought to the Dr. Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center, while 11-month-old Zairen Lopez was also confined in the same hospital due to a bullet wound in the abdomen.
Sabe’s sister, Mary Anne, told police that Prieto fetched her brother from their house at around 9 p.m. The two men, said to be members of the Bulabog gang, were supposed to meet up with their gang mates but encountered members of the Abater gang, who started a shootout.
