MANILA, Philippines - A woman who used to work as a “piyansadora” or bail bondsman was killed by two motorcycle-riding men in Barangay Parang, Marikina City Friday night.
According to city police chief Senior Superintendent Gabriel Lopez, the victim, 35-year-old Sheryl Tan, was initially reported as a niece of Mayor Del de Guzman.
“A relative of hers mentioned the name of the mayor as a relative but we were able to verify that she is not related,” Lopez said.
Lopez said Tan was driving a motorcycle along Tandang Sora street at about 9:30 p.m. when the unidentified attackers, who were on a white motorcycle, blocked her path and shot at her with a .9mm pistol.
Tan was hit four times in the neck and head. Her back-riding companion, Jimky Medina, was unhurt in the attack. The gunmen, wearing full crash helmets, sped off after the attack.
According to Lopez, Tan had allegedly been linked to a group of local drug dealers.
