MANILA, Philippines - A 62-year-old barangay councilman was killed when a speeding car hit him while he was jogging along Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City yesterday.
Police reports said Rolando Angeles, a Pasay kagawad, tried to cross the street at around 5:50 a.m. when a Toyota Camry, driven by Benny Tan, hit him. Pasay rescue workers who responded to the accident said Angeles suffered severe head injuries and was declared dead on arrival at the Manila Adventist Medical Center.
Tan was taken into custody after the accident.
Angeles’ niece, Janet, told The STAR that her uncle has been jogging along Roxas Boulevard for a long time. “Jogging has been the life of my uncle,” she said.
