MANILA, Philippines - A Pasig judge has refused to grant a request by reporter Fernan Angeles to post P200,000 bail in relation to the charges of illegal drug possession against him, according to a report by ABS-CBN.
Angeles remains confined in a hospital after he was beaten and shot seven times last week.
His wife, Gemma, expressed fears that the text message he sent to retired Eastern Police District deputy director Francisco Manalo may have triggered the attack.
Angeles said in a statement that he contacted Manalo hours before the attack, telling him several Pasig police officers are allegedly involved in a drug cartel allegedly led by Faisal Sangcopan.
Sangcopan, who surrendered Saturday, was identified by Angeles as the man who led the attack.
