MANILA, Philippines – Five men posed as drunken teenagers in order to hail a taxi and rob its driver in Quezon City before dawn yesterday.
“They were in party clothes. They even had earrings, so I though they were just drunken teenagers,” cabbie Alain Esguerra said. The suspects boarded the cab along Kaingan Road and asked to brought to Roosevelt Avenue. They declared a heist along the way.
As the suspects fled on foot, Esguerra chased them and got the attention of policemen on patrol. John Eldryk Gallego and Bremar Guinto were caught, while another suspect, who claimed to be 17 years old, was arrested at his house.
Quezon City Police District Station 2 commander Superintendent Audie Madrideo said the same suspects were tagged in seven cases in other parts of the city.
The suspects, when asked why they had robbed Esguerra, said “it was just a trip.”
