17 injured in EDSA bus collision

MANILA, Philippines - At least 17 people were injured when a provincial bus hit another bus near Gate 3 of Camp Aguinaldo along EDSA early yesterday.

A report to the Metrobase of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said the accident happened at around 5:45 a.m. when a Philtranco bus (TYZ-501) rear-ended a JFT Liner bus.

Initial investigation showed that the Philtranco bus hit the Norzagaray, Bulacan-bound JFT Liner bus when it suddenly stopped to pick up a passenger.

A police report stated that the injured passengers were brought to the East Avenue Medical Center and the Quirino Labor Hospital. Among those injured were the driver of the Philtranco bus Cedir Paquiding; Ivan Alonto, who is a resident of Quezon City; and Adelina Manalac of Rizal.
