Man sues owner of dog that bit him

- Non Alquitran -

MANILA, Philippines - A man filed a formal complaint yesterday against the owner of a dog that had bitten him in the buttocks and left leg in Mandaluyong City last week.

Rhenier Tobias, 26, who is taking up teaching units at the National Teacher’s College, said he decided to file charges before the Mandaluyong City police against Unicia Panoy after she refused to reimburse his hospital expenses.

Tobias, a resident of Sta. Ana, Manila, said he visited his uncle, Carlos Magat at Barangay Plainview when Panoy’s dog, Brownie, bit him in the middle of Fabella street at around 7 p.m.

Senior Police Officer 1 Julius Pinera said Tobias asked Panoy’s help to bring him to the nearest hospital, but she ignored him. Tobias went to the Mandaluyong City Medical Center, where he was given anti-rabies vaccine.

After several hours, Tobias said he experienced headache and numbness in his leg. He proceeded to the San Lazaro Hospital for another vaccine shot, for P4,000. A doctor scheduled eight more shots for him.

Pinera is preparing to file appropriate charges against Panoy before the city prosecutor’s office.
