NCRPO honors 2 guards who foiled Alabang heist
MANILA, Philippines - Two security guards who foiled a robbery attempt at the Alabang Town Center in Muntinlupa City last Feb. 10 were honored yesterday by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
Elmer Tagoc and Elmo Torreda, both of the Gallantry Security and Investigation Inc., were killed in the shootout with members of the Ozamis robbery group but not before they shot dead robber Venancio Pioquinto, police said.
NCRPO chief Director Alan Purisima handed out the Medalya ng Katangitanging Asal to Tagoc’s widow, Ellen, and Torreda’s brother, Nicolas, during the flag-raising ceremony at Camp Bagong Diwa yesterday.
Purisima also gave a plaque of recognition to the security agency.
“This incident manifested (the security guards’) strong sense of responsibility in maintaining security and public safety in the community, as a member of the quasi-police force,” Purisima said.
