MANILA, Philippines - A businessman survived an attack by four unidentified gunmen in Caloocan City Saturday.
Juanito Jaba, 53, a resident of Barangay 77 in Caloocan, was still confined at the Manila Central University Hospital yesterday due to a gunshot wound in the left shoulder.
Police Officer 2 Ferdinand Orbeta said Jaba was in his Toyota Corolla, waiting for a family member to open the gate of his house along Dagohoy street, when at least four men approached his vehicle at around 2 a.m.
Other members of his family, who were in a Hyundai Starex van, noticed the oncoming gunmen. Jaba’s family sped away and Jaba followed, but the attackers shot at his car.
Despite being wounded, Jaba was able to escape. He was brought to the hospital for treatment.
Police Officer 2 Jess Pacis, Caloocan City police Substation 2 investigator, said yesterday they were still conducting a deeper investigation of the slay attempt.
