MANILA, Philippines - Some roads in Manila and Makati will be closed to vehicular traffic today, authorities said yesterday.

In an advisory, the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MDTEU) said the unveiling of the late Manila Archbishop Jaime Cardinal Sin’s statue and the celebration of the 26th anniversary of the People Power revolt will be held at the corner of P. The roads that will be closed for the ceremony are P. Burgos, from Roxas Boulevard to Lagusnilad; Bonifacio Drive, from P. Burgos to 25th street; and Ma. Orosa street, from T.M. Kalaw to P. Burgos.

The intersections that will be closed are Taft Avenue and Finance street; Lagusnilad and P. Burgos; P. Burgos and Palacio; and Anda Circle and Bonifacio Drive.

The MDTEU said motorists using Roxas Boulevard’s southbound lane should turn at Anda Circle to A. Soriano street to Magallanes Drive to their destination.

Motorists using Roxas Boulevard’s northbound lane should, upon reaching T.M. Kalaw street, turn left on South Drive, right on Independence Road, right on Katigbak Drive, left on the southbound lane of Bonifacio Drive and counterflow up to 25th street back to Bonifacio Drive’s northbound lane and continue to their destination.

The MMDA said C.M. Recto – from Legarda street to Morayta, going to Avenida – will be closed to traffic from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tomorrow, the MMDA said a portion of Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard, from V. Mapa to Pureza streets, will be closed to traffic to accommodate the shooting of some more scenes for the movie.
