Lawmaker's driver beats up cabbie

- Non Alquitran -

MANILA, Philippines -  A man driving a Nissan Cefiro bearing an “8” congressional protocol plate pistol-whipped a taxi driver during a traffic altercation in Pasig City Monday.

Fernando Pepito’s face was still bleeding when he went to the Eastern Police District to file a formal complaint. He said he was driving his MGE taxi out of a hotel along Capt. Henry Javier street when he nearly collided with a Cefiro at about 7:40 p.m.

He said the suspect followed him and blocked his path along Meralco Avenue, got out of the Cefiro and knocked on his door.

The 27-year-old driver said he opened his window to find out what the man wanted. The suspect took out a handgun and hit Pepito.

He said the suspect kicked his taxi’s door, then went back to the Cefiro and deliberately backed into his taxi, damaging the cab’s fender.
