MANILA, Philippines - Militant transport group Pinagkaisahang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (PISTON) will hold a noise barrage at 10 a.m. today in front of the Isetann department store on Aurora Boulevard, Quezon City.
The group is protesting the unabated increase in fuel prices and is demanding that the government scrap the oil deregulation law and suspend the imposition of value-added taxes on fuel.
Piston president George San Mateo said this is the first of a series of weekly protests they will hold in various parts of Metro Manila. The group will next conduct protest actions in Alabang, Pasig, Baclaran, Zapote, Anda Circle, Monumento in Caloocan and in Novaliches.
