Makati mayor signs IRR on plastics ban

MANILA, Philippines - Business establishments in Makati City to have one year to dispose their stock of plastic bags and polystyrene containers and switch to recyclable containers and packaging.

Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay signed yesterday the implementing rules and regulations of Ordinance 2003-095, which bans the use of plastic bags and polystyrene containers in markets, restaurants and similar establishments.
