Conduct regular de-clogging, builders asked

- Mike Frialde -

MANILA, Philippines - The Makati City government yesterday ordered all builders of medium and high-rise buildings to conduct regular de-clogging.

City Engineer Nelson Morales said that despite regular maintenance works by the city’s Department of Engineering and Public Works, flooding continues to occur in streets near construction sites.

“We have issued this order to remind all developers and contractors that they need to clean up all leftover construction materials, such as concrete mixtures, soil, gravel, sand and other forms of debris every month during the construction phase and immediately after project completion,” Morales said in a statement.

Morales added that the city government has required developers and contractors to submit monthly reports so it can monitor their compliance with the city hall directive and the National Building Code (Republic Act 6541).

He said construction sites should also be kept clean and safe, especially since these buildings are located in the city’s central business district.
