MANILA, Philippines - Members of a syndicate are posing as agents of the Inter-Agency Task Force Against Trafficking and demanding money from bars and nightclubs in Metro Manila in exchange for protection from IACAT raids, Vice President Jejomar Binay said yesterday.
Binay, IACAT chairman emeritus, said a National Bureau of Investigation probe found that the members of the syndicate “do their collections at night during weekends.”
He said all member-agencies of IACAT “do not condone human trafficking, much less demand protection money.”
