- Mike Frialde, Sandy Araneta -

MANILA, Philippines - Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay yesterday said the city government will give away P1 million, 15 BlackBerry smartphones and three iPad 2 tablets during the New Year’s Eve countdown at the city’s central business district on Saturday night.

Binay added that the countdown will be capped by a 15-minute spectacular pyro-musical show to usher in the New Year.

Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, on the other hand, canceled the scheduled fireworks display at the Manila Bay on New Year’s Eve. He said the city government will donate P1 million each to the flood-hit cities of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan.
