Woman falls to death at hotel

- Aie Balagtas See -

MANILA, Philippines - A 59-year-old woman reportedly fell to her death in a hotel in Muntinlupa City on Christmas eve.

Chief Inspector Jenny Tecson, spokesperson of the Southern Police District, said Maria Lourdes Mendoza reportedly fell from the 30th floor of the Vivere Suites Hotel in Alabang at about 12:35 p.m. and landed on the building’s eighth floor.

Police are investigating Mendoza’s death.

On Oct. 27, Martin Guingona Lamb, grandson of former vice president Teofisto Guingona and nephew of Sen. Teofisto Guingona III, committed suicide in the same hotel.

The motive behind the suicide was personal, according to the police.

Lamb, 20, jumped from the 31st floor of Vivere Suites after a night of drinking with close friend Miguel Enrique Munarriz, 22.

Munarriz, however, refused to elaborate about the last conversation he had with Lamb.

The senator appealed to the public to give their family some privacy.
