Lim, Piolo give gifts to Tondo folk

MANILA, Philippines - Actor Piolo Pascual commended Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim Thursday for joining the Pascual family’s outreach program in Tondo on Dec. 21 rather than take time off to celebrate his birthday.

Pascual and Lim gave away about 1,500 gift packs to residents of Parola. They were assisted by city social welfare chief Jay de la Fuente, Councilor Nino de la Cruz, Manila Police District director Chief Superintendent Alex Gutierrez and traffic head Chief Inspector Reynaldo Nava. Members of the actor’s family and the Manila City Hall Reporters’ Association helped pack the items that were given away.

Lim cited Pascual for constantly choosing Manila residents as beneficiaries, while Pascual said the outreach programs they do are part of their family’s tradition.

Pascual said he has no plans to join politics.
