Van driver's head cut off in road mishap

- Aie Balagtas See -

MANILA, Philippines - A 32-year-old man was decapitated when the van he was driving rammed into a trailer truck while plying C-5 Road in Taguig City before dawn yesterday.

Rolly Cerenio was believed to be running fast on C-5 Road’s southbound lane about 4:30 a.m. when a trailer truck, driven by one Alexander Santos, suddenly stopped in front of the victim.

The impact of the collision caused Cerenio’s head to be “detached from his body,” said Police Officer 3 Jeffrey Sagaran of the city traffic enforcement unit.

Sagaran said Cerenio may have failed to notice Santos’ vehicle because there were no early warnings that he would pull over.

Santos is facing a criminal charge of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, police said.
