Muntinlupa to designate 'cracker zones

MANILA, Philippines - The Muntinlupa City government will designate firecracker zones to avoid firecracker-related casualties during the New Year revelry.

“Right now we are still determining where it (firecracker zone) would be,” Omar Acosta, city public information chief, said.

The city government also reminded residents and business establishments that the sale and distribution of firecrackers is prohibited in the city.

Acosta said business establishments that will violate the order will face sanctions, which includes revocation of business license and payment of fines.
