Guard dies in 'copycat' suicide

MANILA, Philippines - Another hotel security guard shot himself in the head Wednesday night in Manila after watching a news report on a hotel security guard who committed suicide after being caught in a love triangle.

Carlo Herrera, 29, was discovered dead by his colleagues at the barracks of the Ambassador Hotel when they were awaked by the sound of a gunshot at past 9:30 p.m.

A colleague told police Herrera went straight to bed after watching the report on the suicide of Julian Bangit, who shot himself in the head at the Familie Pension House in Malate after figuring in a quarrel with a lover who was urging him to leave his partner.

Herrera’s relatives told police the victim was involved with three women, but became despondent after catching his partner in bed with another man.
