Girl, 14, raped by textmate, 3 others

MANILA, Philippines - A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her textmate, also a minor, and three men when she went to her textmate’s house in Pasig City and joined them in a drinking spree before dawn Monday.

“Ver,” 16; Kevin Lloyd Umali, 19; Henry Minoza, 21; and Mar Jason Nasorada, 18, were arrested one after the other in their respective residences. The victim, a third year high school student, identified them as the ones who raped her.

The victim said Ver had been her textmate for the past several weeks. In her statement before Police Officer 2 Amy Baldonado of the Pasig City police Women’s and Children Protection Desk, the victim claimed Ver invited her for an “eyeball” at his house in Barangay Sta. Lucia at around 2 a.m. Monday.

She said the four suspects were drinking when she arrived. Baldonado said the girl joined the suspects and became dizzy minutes later.

The victim said Ver invited her into his room, where he raped her. She claimed the three other suspects took turns raping her in the bathroom before they allowed her to go home.

The girl said she tried to keep her ordeal to herself, but her parents noticed she had a hard time walking. She told them about the gang rape and her parents sought the help of the police to arrest the suspects.

The four suspects said they had consensual sex with the girl.

Police are preparing rape charges against the suspects, who are being held at the local detention center.
