DPWH holds weekend road repairs

- Evelyn Macairan -

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said yesterday the public should expect traffic jams for the duration of its four-day pothole patching along some major roads in Metro Manila.

In a statement, the DPWH blamed undisciplined drivers, selfish motorists and the increase in the number of vehicles for the wear and tear on the pavements, which lead to the development of potholes and cracks.

The roadworks started Friday and will end tomorrow. The DPWH assured motorists they would experience smoother rides and better traffic flow once these projects are completed.

Yesterday, the South Manila Engineering District fixed the potholes along MIA Road and Domestic Road in Pasay City to ease traffic leading to the airport. Portions of Airport Road, along Andrew Avenue, Electrical Road, and Tramo Road from Zobel Roxas to Gil Puyat Avenue will undergo concrete reblocking.

The DPWH will also patch potholes along Regalado South covering Regalado Avenue and Fairview Avenue in Quezon City and Governor A. Pascual Avenue, Malabon City, particularly at A. Santiago-F. Pascual street.

The DPWH will also seal cracks along Quezon Ave nue, particularly at the Welcome Rotonda-Elliptical Road area; MacArthur Highway, Caloocan City covering A. Blanco Street-FTI Road; Central Luzon Leprosarium Road; EDSA near the People Power Monument-Quezon Avenue and at the intersection of section of Shaw Boulevard-Ortigas Avenue northbound.
