MANILA, Philippines - Masses at Quiapo Church can now be viewed on live webstream to enable Filipinos overseas and sick people to participate in the Eucharistic celebration, an official said yesterday.
Quiapo Church rector Msgr. Clemente Ignacio said the live streaming of Masses came about due to requests from overseas Filipino workers who could not go to Mass.
“At least it could help them and nourish their faith. The live streaming is not a substitute for attending Mass. Catholics have to still go to Mass in their churches,” he said. “We offered for those who can’t go to mass due to their conditions. Live streaming will also cover talks and reflections in Quiapo church.”
The schedule of the Masses can be viewed on www.quiapochurch.com.
Quiapo Church is officially known as the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene. The Feast of the Black Nazarene, held on Jan. 9, is considered one of the most spectacular religious events in the country. Thousands of devotees walk barefoot in a procession that takes them to various parts of Quiapo.
