3 men nabbed for selling stolen car parts
MANILA, Philippines - Three men were arrested yesterday morning for allegedly selling stolen car parts at a shanty in Quezon City.
“It’s like you’re visiting an actual car parts shop but this one is at a shanty in the middle of a depressed community,” Superintendent Norberto Babagay, commander of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD)-Station11, said in an interview.
In his report to QCPD director Chief Superintendent George Regis, Babagay identified the suspects as Robert de Vera, 35, Oswald Teologo, 30, and Ricky Reyes, 42.
The three were arrested at past 5 a.m. at a house in Barangay Tatalon allegedly occupied by Reyes. The place is near Banawe Road, where car spare parts shops are lined up.
Babagay said the suspects could not present documents to justify the presence of the spare parts inside the residence. “It is usually at night when the parts are stolen. They are then brought to these dealers before dawn (for re-selling),” he said.
