QC to build museum

- Rhodina Villanueva -

MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City government will soon build its own museum. Mayor Herbert Bautista bared that a groundbreaking ceremony for the museum has been scheduled and its construction is expected to be finished in six months.

Bautista said the QC Museum will be a 1,000 square-meter landmark near the Peace Bell Shrine at the Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC) and designed by popular architect Jun Palafox.

“To showcase the city’s culture and the arts, the city museum will help citizens achieve a higher level of awareness of the past starting from the Cry of Pugad Lawin to the inaugural party of President Benigno Aquino III at the QMC last June 30, 2010,” he said.

He said he also plans to transfer the QC Public Library to a section of the museum.

He said he will approve the release of an additional P91 million for the QC museum once the QC Public Library is integrated with the museum.

“The museum and the city’s public library should be located in a common place for the convenience of students and visitors,” Bautista said.
