Pawnshop robbers strike again
MANILA, Philippines - Members of the notorious robbery gang took P2.2 million in cash and jewelry after digging a tunnel over the weekend to enter a pawnshop in Quezon City.
Reports from Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 6 in Batasan Hills said the robbery was only discovered at around 8 a.m. yesterday.
Senior Police Officer 1 Daniel Jose said employees of the Emmanuel Pawnshop located along Villongco Street in Barangay Commonwealth learned that the establishment had been robbed when they opened the pawnshop.
The suspects allegedly dug a tunnel from a canal near the pawnshop and opened the vault using an acetylene torch.
Last Friday, a pawnshop in Marikina City also lost some P3 million worth of valuables to robbers that also dug up tunnel to enter the establishment.
