SC junks case vs PCSO transfer

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed a petition questioning the transfer of the headquarters of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) from the Quezon Institute complex to the Philippine International Convention Center.

The petition, filed by former PCSO chairman Manuel Morato, said the decision to transfer was whimsical and done without regard to the plight of the PCSO employees.

The SC, however, said the petition failed “to show any case of grave abuse of discretion” by the PCSO board.

PCSO chairwoman Margarita Juico, in welcoming the High Court’s ruling, said “the unfounded case brought as much pain and distress to the present board but their faith in the judicial system did not disappoint them.”

She said they transferred the PCSO headquarters due to the deep concern for the safety of the agency’s employees and beneficiaries.
