Man stabs brother dead in Tondo

MANILA, Philippines - A 30-year-old man stabbed dead his elder brother in Tondo, Manila following an altercation yesterday.

Case investigator SPO3 Paul Dennis Javier said Richard Manalang, 45, was declared dead on arrival at the Mary Johnston Hospital for multiple stab wounds, while his brother Ryan Jay went into hiding.

Javier said the two brothers, who reportedly have always been fighting since their childhood, had a verbal altercation inside their residence along Perla street in Tondo before noon.

The victim’s son-in-law Benjie Macapagal told police he later saw the two brothers grappling for knife possession. He said he also witnessed how Ryan Jay stabbed Richard.

Javier said the police are in a dilemma over the filing of the case since no one volunteered to give his sworn statement regarding the slaying.
