- Aie Balagtas See -

MANILA, Philippines - A Parañaque City regional trial court sentenced a man to serve a maximum of 17 years in prison for selling shabu worth P50 in 2009.

Leonardo Monteverde was also ordered to pay a fine of P300,000 by Judge Danilo Suarez of Branch 259.

Monteverde was arrested in a drug bust in Barangay San Dionisio on Oct. 16, 2009 for .92 gram of shabu. He was then with partner Irene Santos, the supposed target of the police operation, but she escaped.

In his decision, Suarez found Monteverde guilty of possessing and selling illegal drugs.

The judge archived the case against Santos as he ordered the release of arrest warrant against her.
