Pinoys in Afghanistan thank P-Noy for lifting work ban

- Rudy Santos -

MANILA, Philippines -  Seven overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) yesterday, bearing a letter of thanks to President Aquino from representatives of at least 6,000 Filipinos working in more than 60 United States and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) bases all over Afghanistan.

The letter, signed by seven representatives of Filipinos in Afghanistan (FIA), the OFWs said the partial lifting of the ban allowing them to work in the conflict-ridden country is a big help to their families.

Carlo Echano, 47, who works at one of the US bases as a regional logistics manager for $20,000 a month, said he and the other representatives of the FIA wish to hand the letter to Aquino personally.
