MANILA, Philippines - One of the vehicles used by Vice President Jejomar Binay for official functions caught fire while parked at the basement of the Makati City Hall yesterday.
Chief Inspector Jenny Tecson, spokesperson of the Southern Police District, said the black Ford Expedition with plate 2 burst into flames at about 2:30 a.m. The fire was put out 10 minutes later, according to city fire marshal Superintendent Ric Perdigon.
Binay’s spokesperson, Joey Salgado, said the vehicle was only lent to the Vice President by the latter’s old friend, businessman Vic Chong because Binay “has no official vehicle.”
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
