Guard nabbed for robbery

MANILA, Philippines - A security guard suspected of robbing a pawnshop in Quezon City was arrested onThursday.

Senior Inspector Edilberto Nicanor, deputy chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit of the Quezon City Police District, said Santos Nogas is allegedly one of those who robbed a Tambunting Pawnshop branch at a commercial building at the corner of Panay Avenue and Scout Borromeo streets in Barangay South Triangle.

Nicanor said they are also hunting down the brother of Santos, Eulogio, also a security guard and three other men believed to be involved in the burglary.

Rosalie Ladra Dalusong, Tambunting branch manager, told police that the pawnshop lost 166 pieces of jewelry worth over P3 million and P83,033.95 in cash.

Police Officer 3 Johnny Mahilum said the suspects tunneled into the pawnshop through a vacant office beside it. Police found a small acetylene tank, hand drill, screw driver, hydraulic jack, metal hacksaw, crow bar, shovel and small stove, which were left by the suspects.
