4 OFWS jailed in Saudi for stealing undies

- Sheila Crisostomo -

MANILA, Philippines - At least four overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) were detained in Saudi Arabia for allegedly stealing underwear.

Migrante Middle East regional coordinator John Leonard Monterona said they learned about the detention of the OFWs from another Filipino who is also detained at the Hail central jail in Hail City.

Monterona said the jailed OFWs claimed they have been charged of crimes they never committed. He also called on the government to provide the Filipinos the necessary assistance.  “We need to get their names so that we could urge the PH embassy to arrange a jail visit and look into their individual cases and provide legal assistance to them,” he said.
