WASHINGTON – Filipino-American Maria Mabilangan Haley, a close friend of former President Bill Clinton, died on Tuesday from a brain aneurysm. She was 70.
She was an advisor to former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo from 2001 to 2002.
Haley, who comes from a family of diplomats was special assistant in the Presidential Personnel Office at the White House and a board member with the Export-Import Bank of the United States during the Clinton administration.
“Maria Haley was a great public servant, a wonderful person, and my friend for more than 30 years,” Clinton said.
